LEVEL 3:Stroke Development
Participants refine their crawl and back strokes and start to learn new strokes such as the breaststroke and butterfly
Key aspects of Level 3 Stroke Development:
Basic Strokes: Front crawl with rotary breathing, Elementary backstroke, May introduce the breaststroke kick
Kicking Techniques: Flutter kick on front and back, Potential introduction to scissor kick
Water Entry and Exit: Jumping into deep water from the side, recovering to the surface, Entering the pool headfirst from a kneeling position
Body Positioning: Streamlined entry and push off, Maintaining a proper body position while swimming
Breathing Techniques: Rotary breathing on the front crawl
Water Safety: Treading water, Floating on front and back, Changing direction and turning in the water
*CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 8 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN.

Session Break down
- Level 3: Stroke Development
- Samuel V. Arroyo Recreation Center
- Beginning December 2, 2024 to March 8, 2025
- Sessions available: Registrants must select a day and participate on the registered re-occurring days only)
- Every Tuesday, 5:00pm to 5:45pm
- Must register at one location and remain active through out the session. Each location will host its own separate programming.
Important Things to know!
- Swimming assessments will be held at your local pool to determine your swimmer's ability
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the class start time.
- Proper swimming attire required
- Swimmers at this level should be comfortable in the water and able to perform basic swimming movements independently.
- The focus is on refining stroke mechanics and building endurance for short distances.
- Instructors may use kickboards and other training aids to help students practice specific stroke components.
- Depending on the program, Level 3 might also introduce basic underwater swimming skills.
